Orvieto: before the Romans

Torn between Assissi and Orvieto, Anne and Robert chose the latter for they assumed that the ancient walled city was lesser known and probably less touristy. Orvieto is on the way to Rome, in fact, midway between Cortona and Rome. The cathedral (duomo)  pictured here is too big for the square.
