Exploring Cortona

Thanks to the Italian train strike, Anne and Robert were able to finally explore Cortona. While the rest of the festival participants shared taxi rides to Florence or Rome on Sunday 22 July, they navigated this ancient city on foot. The long walk during siesta time took them to the highest point: a church and a fortress. As they hiked on the cobbled stones and dirt roads, they heard the lovely piano music of Chris Williams, the young Australian composer who won the first Faculty Award the evening before. The live recording of Michielle has been divided to accompany the rest of this photo album. The music is never tiring but hugely inspiring.

Music for piano solo: “Somewhere Between Reason and Light” by Chris Williams, performed by Michele Chiasserini, recorded live in Cortona, 21 July 2007
