Two train stops north of Camucia-Cortona is the ancient town of Arezzo, famous for the father of the “do re mi fa so la ti do” and home of the poet Petrarca. Guido d’Arezzo invented the hexachord: six consecutive notes of ut, re, mi, fa, so, la. This was later expanded to the Sound of Music. The movie “La Vita Bella” was also filmed in Arezzo. During siesta time on 16 July, nearly everything was closed and asleep. But the camera snapped away.
