Chinese Songs

Objectives:
  1. introduce Chinese songs with music (midi and MP3), sheet music (black and white keys), lyrics in pin yin, Chinese characters, and English or other translation
  2. get piano students to play the black keys earlier on
  3. get students to improvise to pentatonic melodies, i.e. anything goes
  4. make available interesting arrangements for different levels
  5. put chord markings for guitar and improvisation (make use of capo to allow first position chords)
  6. add simplified notation (jian pu)
Outstanding:
  1. ensure correct notes for melody
  2. get Chinese lyrics in Chinese and pin yin
  3. translate to English and/or Dutch or other
  4. make interesting arrangement
  5. get illustration
  6. write a historical synopsis and indicate how to play it
